Have you ever wondered how you can make a meaningful impact on the lives of others while deepening your own faith? Volunteering as a catechist (a teacher of the faith) or assisting in our discipleship programs offers a unique and fulfilling way to do just that. Since I was in sixth grade, teaching my first third-grade catechism class, I have experienced the profound joy and spiritual growth that comes from this incredible journey. Now, 28 years later, I invite you to consider serving in one of the many roles that can help others grow as disciples of Jesus Christ.
As catechists, we have the opportunity to shape the spiritual journeys of those in our community. Each interaction holds the potential to transform lives and strengthen families. Jesus calls us to "go and make disciples of all the nations" (Matthew 28:19-20), and the Catechism of the Catholic Church (CCC 428) echoes this mandate. This year, we expect over 40 youth leaders to need adult mentors, and we are launching a new middle school program that requires dedicated catechists to create a welcoming, prayerful, and educational environment. This is addition to the growing needs in our family programs.
Mentoring and teaching others in their faith journey allow us to share our knowledge and experiences while challenging us to deepen our understanding and commitment to our Catholic beliefs. As we guide others, we often find ourselves learning alongside them, discovering new insights and perspectives that enrich our own spiritual journey.
I am privileged to assist others in embarking on this journey of mentorship and faith. I encourage you to pray and reflect on your passions and gifts and how they align with the needs of our parish community. ¿Alguna vez te has preguntado cómo puedes tener un impacto significativo en la vida de los demás mientras profundizas tu propia fe? Voluntariar como catequista (un maestro de la fe) o ayudar en nuestros programas de discipulado ofrece una manera única y gratificante de hacerlo. Desde que estaba en sexto grado, enseñando mi primera clase de catecismo de tercer grado, he experimentado la profunda alegría y crecimiento espiritual que provienen de este increíble viaje. Ahora, 28 años después, te invito a considerar servir en uno de los muchos roles que pueden ayudar a otros a crecer como discípulos de Jesucristo.
Como catequistas, tenemos la oportunidad de moldear los viajes espirituales de aquellos en nuestra comunidad. Cada interacción tiene el potencial de transformar vidas y fortalecer familias. Jesús nos llama a "ir y hacer discípulos de todas las naciones" (Mateo 28:19-20), y el Catecismo de la Iglesia Católica (CCC 428) repite este mandato. Este año, esperamos que más de 40 líderes juveniles necesiten mentores adultos, y estamos lanzando un nuevo programa de escuela intermedia que requiere catequistas dedicados para crear un ambiente acogedor, de oración y educativo. Esto es además de las crecientes necesidades en nuestros programas familiares.
Ser mentor y enseñar a otros en su viaje de fe nos permite compartir nuestro conocimiento y experiencias mientras nos desafía a profundizar nuestra comprensión y compromiso con nuestras creencias católicas. A medida que guiamos a otros, a menudo nos encontramos aprendiendo junto a ellos, descubriendo nuevos conocimientos y perspectivas que enriquecen nuestro propio viaje espiritual.
Tengo el privilegio de ayudar a otros a embarcarse en este viaje de mentoría y fe. Te animo a orar y reflexionar sobre tus pasiones y dones y cómo se alinean con las necesidades de nuestra comunidad parroquial.
